Santa Fe Trail: 200 Years Later

Robert Nott and Gabriela Campos travelled a significant part of the Santa Fe Trail last year reporting on, and photographing events and activities surrounding, the Trail’s Bicentennial Celebration.  It was in 1821 that the trail was opened by William Becknell as the major trading route between Missouri and Santa Fe.  Robert will talk about his travels and share his observations during this trip, many of which were captured in a series of articles published by The New Mexican last fall.  Gabriela’s photos provide a rich visual record of their trip.

Robert Nott is a longtime journalist with the Santa Fe New Mexican.  His multiple other interests are as an actor, playwright, and dog lover.

Gabriela Campos was born and raised in Santa Fe, NM. Her work has been featured in The Guardian, High Country News, VICE and other southwestern publications
